I know that a fashion designer is kind of similar to a fashion merchandiser. What are the differences?

caltam84 asked:

Two occupations fashion design and fashion merchandising are similar, but not exactly alike. Do you know the difference between the two.

My major is not fashion, it’s either engineering or math.

How do you start off working in the fashion industry?

fashion
Simone S asked:

I am extremely interested in all areas of fashion. I keep my nose in Allure, Elle, Cosmo, Vogue and the tabloids. I love celebrities and their apparel. How do you get your foot in the door of fashion? Fashion journalism (I’m a great writer), fashion consulting (I adore clothes, accesoriese, etc.) or just working for a magazine? Help! If you want to see some of my work, let me know.

Please girls?

gorgeous summer shoes
Original_Princess asked:

Today me and my friends saw some girl who looked like she was Indian. She was so pretty, her black hair flowing wildly in the summer sun. She was medium height and petite and her dress sense and skin was gorgeous. I am black and as I was walking home with my friends I felt as if I didnt fit in. They all had their “Just Do It” nike bags, slicks and their ghetto jackets/looks. Whereas me, I feel I looked disgusting with my crusty school shoes, tights and my over sized blazer. I want to look like that girl. Not being vain or nothing, but I am know I am pretty. Maybe not drop dead gorgeous but I know I am not ugly. I dont want to change my self so much, just be able to have that look. I really like that Bohemian look. I am fourteen and I feel because I am black and like not even light skinned (more like Kelly Rowlands colour) I cant really do all that. I am expected to look typical black and like I really look odd with my mates as I look half ghetto and half normal. What should i do?

What are the chances of becoming a successful fashion designer?

fashion
Jourdan asked:

I’m almost 17, and I’m home schooled, so i take fashion design at a local community college. I already have professional sewing skills, and i can use professional sewing equipment, like sergers, ect.. and i was wondering if this a plus since i have started so much earlier then the average wanna be fashion designer?

Also, what does it take to be a fashion designer? The clothes I make are inspired by the 60’s pop art , the 80’s, and some vintage styles. I like to make clothes that are really fashionable but wearable too, and i have made some handbags. Is that good enough or should i be more creative?

And where can I buy wholesale fabric and other sewing notions like zippers, buttons, thread, ect.

Any other info would be wonderful!

How can I start being a fashion and beauty girl?

fashion
Skylar Scandalous asked:

I’m 13 and I love fashion and beauty, but I just don’t know how to be a fashionista/ fashion and beauty girl! I’m doing this for myself, by the way! What magazines do I read, make -up, any recommended stores, clothing lines, clothes, shoes, accessories, purses (I already have a small Coach Purse), what do fashionistas obsess over (except for fashion and beauty duh!), how do they act, any recommended books (fiction or nonfiction), what do they say a lot, what celebrities are their role models, how do I get great fashionista-baby soft skin, any bedroom (bathroom) make-overs, and any other suggestions are cool! I don’t want to be self-centered or mean, I am really nice actually.

Sorry, that’s a lot of stuff, but I just love fashion, just don’t know how to put it!

Advice would be awesome!
